It's a choice we face in almost every purchase we make. We wanted to bring the same option to making eyeglasses. Not because they're identical, but because you deserve to make that choice. 

Why independence matters. 

Choosing between brand-name products and their independent alternatives is nothing new. It's a familiar part of purchasing almost everywhere, giving customers the freedom to decide when a particular brand is worth the additional cost. We believe opticians should have that same choice, without sacrificing the quality or service they expect from their laboratory.

But in the optical industry, a trademarked lens often comes with more than a recognizable name. Much like the vision plans that doctors and opticians know all too well, manufacturer-controlled product systems can dictate the terms under which we operate. Using their proprietary designs can mean accepting their requirements for materials, coatings, licensing, and pricing. In effect, the laboratory trades some of its independence for the right to offer that brand. Those costs and restrictions ultimately make their way to your optical. We believe you should have the freedom to opt out of that system entirely, whenever a job doesn't call for it.

That's why we've made independence our default. Every job can be produced using our own designs and materials, with coatings included—or, when you need a specific branded product, simply choose to Apply Trademarks to the same job.

For patients in longstanding designs, or when your opinion as an optician makes the extra cost worthwhile, we will produce fully trademarked lenses like you'd order anywhere. We simply offer that choice.
