Quality
without compromise.

Industry leading quality at game-changing prices. It's that simple.

Our lens production processes have redefined turnaround time and progressive adaptation rates because of our engineering roots. Backed by a simple universal warranty and optician-to-optician support, you'll see The Core Lab difference in every pair we make.

Where engineering & optics meet.

Our lens generators and surfacing machines are overseen by the engineers that helped design them. We use our knowledge to deliver a first-of-its-kind progressive lineup. Or for the truly committed, a process to help your optical make custom designs inspired by your unique optician experience.

We see custom-designed progressives as one of the areas where local opticals can further differentiate from onlines and box stores. Talk to your account manager to find the perfect approach for your business.

What is a custom progressive design?

A custom design is one that is unique to your optical.

Most custom lenses start with a model design and a goal. For example, "We'd like a 'familiar design X' lens that has a wider corridor, and performs better at intermediate distances." Once we know the technology level necessary to make it, and thus its price point, we will make a unique production algorithm for it. From there, we can make demo lenses for you to test out, or go directly to adding it to your lens lineup.

What is a custom lens lineup and how do we build one?

It means a set of custom-designed lenses with various properties and price points, to offer alongside the progressives your optical already offers.

We find that many experienced opticians have a set of progressive designs they're been successful with over the years. Our lens generators can produce any design pattern with the appropriate settings, given proper knowledge of their software.

At your request, your account manager will work to build a lens menu that is completely unique to your business. This includes designing one of a kind patterns to suit the properties your experience guides and your patients love.

Can you make brand X or Y progressive designs and coatings?

Yes! We offer the same branded lenses from names you're familiar with, such as Essilor, Hoya, Kodak, or Zeiss. In fact, about 25% of the lenses we make are under these licensed brands.

That all said, "licensed" is the operative word. These companies charge royalty fees for making their trademarked desings. This keeps our prices more in line with other optical labs on these products.

The reality is that in 2025, there is no substantive proprietary technology in ophthalmic lenses. All labs use similar machines and software, from the same companies. (Ours are Satisloh and Schneider, two leaders in the industry).  Our difference is in the engineering knowledge of the people operating them.
