Quality
without compromise.

Industry leading quality at game-changing prices. It's that simple.

Our lens production processes have redefined turnaround time and progressive adaptation rates because of our engineering roots. Backed by a simple universal warranty and optician-to-optician support, you'll see The Core Lab difference in every pair we make.

Where engineering & optics meet.

Our lens generators and surfacing machines are overseen by the engineers that helped design them. We use our knowledge to deliver a first-of-its-kind progressive lineup. Or for the truly committed, a process to help your optical design a custom lens lineup with designs inspired by your own optical's unique customer base.

We see purpose-built progressives as one of the areas where local opticals can further differentiate from onlines and box stores. Talk to your account manager to find the perfect approach for your business.

How do we keep lens prices so low?

The short answer is a combination of automation along with our ability to produce the inputs of each step of a lens in-house. Rather than a large facility with mostly technicians, our generator lab is manned by a head engineer that oversees a small team that deploy simple robotics common to modern manufacturing.

Even more than technology, it is our approach to team building that keeps costs low. Over half of our employees have equity in our company. This means they work like owners, because they are. As such, they know our prices are the essential upgrade we give to our customers.

What is a purpose-built design?

A progressive or occupational lens that is designed for specific tasks or working conditions. While not at all unique to our lab, we make our lens options simple to navigate for patients and staff.

As opticians ourselves, we know the reality is that most optical shops have very limited staff fully trained in optical sales. This leads to your patients waiting, losing sales, and/or having your ophthalmic tech stuck trying to sell glasses. We built our designs to be simple, intuitive, and most of all effective.

What is a custom lens lineup and how do we build one?

We find that many experienced opticians have a set of progressive designs they're been successful with over the years. Our lens generators can produce any design pattern with the appropriate settings, given proper knowledge of their software.

At your request, your account manager will work to build a lens menu that is completely unique to your business. This includes designing one of a kind patterns to suit the properties your experience guides and your patients love.

Can you make brand X or Y progressive designs and coatings?

We can certainly make the same branded lenses from names you're familiar with, such as Essilor, Hoya, Kodak, or Zeiss. In fact, about 20% of the lenses we make are under these licensed brands.

That all said, "licensed" is the operative word. These companies charge steep royalty fees for using their trademarks. This keeps our prices more in line with other optical labs on these products.

The reality is that in 2025, there is no substantive proprietary technology in ophthalmic lenses. All labs use highly similar machines, from the same companies. (Ours are Satisloh and Schneider, two leaders in the industry).  Our difference is in the engineering knowledge of the people operating them.
